Raleigh attorney Heather Bridgers has entered into a deal with Nordstrom for her Just For KiiX heel guards, which protect women’s heels from scratches and scuffs.
Bridgers came up with the idea for the product after she ripped the leather heel on her Prada shoes on an airport jetway on the way to meet a client in New York. She worked with researchers at N.C. State University’s College of Textiles to find a solution. The answer: A heavy-duty polyurethane adhesive that would resist scuffs but be thin enough to be nearly invisible to the naked eye.
Bridgers has been selling Just for KiiX online – a package of two costs $10 – and at local shops such as Kristen’s Shoe Boutique in Cary, but Nordstrom recently began carrying the product in 20 of its stores around the nation, reports WRAL.
The product is made and packaged in Durham.
